| Description |
Presented by ACC's Employment and Labor Committee, sponsored by Jackson Lewis LLP When the Sarbanes-Oxley Act was enacted in 2002, it included the most far-reaching whisteblower provision in federal law, granting significant new protections to millions of corporate employees. Since then, thousands of corporate whistleblowers have filed claims, and many companies have struggled to sufficiently address complaints internally before formal litigation and the accompanying exposure of the charges to the public, the media, or even Congress. The courts and Department of Labor administrative law judges have been busy as well, rendering dozens of decisions which have defined many critical issues-- the scope of coverage, what constitutes protected activity and retaliation, what remedies are available, when reinstatement is appropriate, whether jury trials can be had, and more. This webcast will cover the highlights from the developing case law, and provide "best practices" tips on surviving whistleblower claims through the development of internal complaint and investigation procedures that will keep your company out of the headlines.
ACC will not seek CLE credits for this webcast
